In Greek mythology, Zeus was always up to some shit and he loved to disguise himself to seduce ladies. In this case, he turned into a swan to woo Leda. For some reason it worked? This myth is the subject of some truly outrageous paintings over the years - google is to see some suggestive swan neck stuff. But this candleholder is based on one of my fave depictions of the myth by painting zaddy Correggio.
The candle holder is 3" x 2" x 2" with a little cup to hold a taper candleholder. The image is stamped on and hand colored. The candleholder is covered in clear glaze for easy cleaning.
Each piece is wonkily handbuilt and hand-drawn. Each line and color is done by me! If you are looking for a pristine piece of handmade ceramics then this is not it! It is built securely but with character. It is food and microwave safe, but I would recommend lovingly hand-washing it. Each piece is one of a kind, made out of earthenware clay and sgraffito-ed with goofy imagery.
